Industrial Visit to Panipat Thermal Power Station
An industrial visit of Panipat Thermal Power Station (a unit of HPGCL) was organized by EEE Department on 13th April 2016 for 6th Semester students. 87 students visited along with HOD (EEE), Dr. Rajveer Mittal and faculty members Mr. Ashok Goyal, Mr. Jitender Lather and Ms. Ruchika. The visit was very successful and it was a learning experience for the students. They saw a running power plant of 250 MW, Unit No.VII and understood various technical factors which would be very helpful for their understanding of various theoretical aspects studied in their curriculum.
Panipat Thermal Power Station (PTPS) has a total installed generation capacity of 1360 MW comprising of four Units of 110 MW each , two Units of 210 MW each and two Units of 250 MW each. As all the balance of plant facilities viz. Coal Handling Plant, Ash Handling Plant, Cooling towers, C.W. System are separate for 4x110 MW Unit 1 to 4 and are completely independent from Units 5 to 8. This has been done in order to improve the performance of the Plant and to have a better control.
